About the winery
In 2010, Le Dôme, a wine by a newcomer to Bordeaux from England, received a 100-point rating from the influential wine critic Robert Parker (Wine Advocate), and its creator, Jonathan Maltus, a rebellious and then not yet fully recognised Bordeaux outsider, was dubbed "the British winemaking guru" and "a visionary". He was also the first Briton to receive the highest Robert Parker score.
In 1994, unable to afford land on the left bank of Bordeaux (Medoc) and having acquired several plots on the right bank (Saint Emilion), the winemaker experimented with bold winemaking principles (extremely small vintages, double picking the grapes, low-temperature fermentation), and was quickly accepted into the club of vins de garagistes, which included such well-known names as Le Pin, Vallandraud, La Mondotte and Marojallia.
Jack Maltus, son of Jonathan Maltus, arrives in Vilnius on the 29th of June. "JCP Maltus", today represents names such as Le Dôme, Château Teyssier and the US winery with the provocative name "World's End".
During the event, we will taste wines from all these wineries, compare them, and listen to their stories about them.
Vilnius 700 label
The welcome drink at this dinner will be special - we will taste a wine from Château Teyssier, whose label features a calligraphic handwritten passage from the letter of Gediminas, the first mention of the name of Vilnius.
The label of this wine was commissioned by the "Vilniaus klubas" and designed by Rimvydas Kepežinskas, a graphic artist, illustrator and calligrapher, who has been awarded the National Prize for Culture and Art of the Republic of Lithuania. This is a great opportunity to celebrate Vilnius' 700th birthday once again and to see the historic anniversary label in person.
