The Ménards area is located in the village of Viré. The hillside is steep with east/south-east exposure, and the soil is composed of shallow red clays on limestone bedrock. Our plot is over 80 years old which allows controlled yields and therefore wines of great density. The slow and natural winemaking takes place in oak barrels with indigenous yeasts and bacteria for a total fermenting time of 24 months. The wines of this clime combine strength and elegance, they age very well. Green gold with golden reflections. Powerful notes of white flowers and ripe fruits. Nice notes of toast and hazelnuts add complexity. Complex and dense, with flavors of ripe fruits, acacia, hawthorn and hazelnut. The roasted notes associated with the smokey mineral notes add balance. The finish is long and fresh with mint and spices.
Serve at 10-12 °C with roast veal, poultry, fine fish or lobster
The Domaine was founded in 1956 by André Bonhomme and his wife Gisèle. The surface was then 4 ha of Macon Viré, the appellation of the time, coming from his father Joseph Bonhomme. Today, André Bonhomme handed over to his son-in-law Eric Palthey and his daughter Jacqueline, both joined by their sons Aurélien and Johan. The estate carries out its activity in organic viticulture on some 14 ha located on the clay-limestone soils of the communes of Viré and Clessé for a production exclusively in bottles of 98% white wines and 2% reds.We find in white the Chardonnay grape variety and in red the Gamay. All products by this producer
