Three periods of 2012 vintage: a rainy spring, a sunny summer, a wet fall. Two characteristics: exuberant Merlots on one side, and precise, linear Cabernet Sauvignons on the other. Two vintages in one: a happy marriage for a richly balanced wine.
The Merlot, rich and exuberant, remind us of the best vintages of the first decade of the 2000s. The Cabernet Sauvignon are linear and precise and in line with a 2008. This unusual marriage harmoniously highlights the smoothness, elegance and refinement of Château Palmer wines.
Serve at 16-18 °C with grilled meat, poultry, game, cheeses.
Château Palmer is a wine estate located in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc. It was ranked as a third growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, although for many decades it has been consistently rated as one of the best wines in the region. Unusually for the Médoc, Château Palmer usually has as much Merlot as Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (along with a small amount of Petit Verdot), which helps give the wine a fleshy and generous structure. It can be drunk young, but will also reward long cellaring.
