Ken Forrester Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc 2019

Description

The wine is made from older (averagely 38 years old) chenin blanc vineyards growing in yellow sandy soil. The habitat is characterized by dry soil and controlled fertility. Some of the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks, the other in French oak barrels for 9 months (of which 20% is new) along with the yeast residue. Golden hued and full bodied, with melon and spicy baked apple aromas. Layered, with mineral notes enhanced by honeycomb and caramel flavours. This wine is a great example of the harmonious balance which can be achieved between fruit and delicate oak/vanilla flavours, as they combine to form complex, soft flavours with sufficient body to enhance even spicy and full flavoured meals.

Serving recommendation

Serve at 8-10 °C with full flavoured fish or chicken dishes. Ideal with crayfish, prawns, roasted flounder, spicy dishes.
